Set on a non-working farm in the beautiful and peaceful Somerset countryside, Longhill is a grade 11 listed family home offering farmhouse bed & breakfast and self-catering cottage accommodation. We are surrounded by stunning views of open countryside across farmland and rolling green hills and our accommodation is a tranquil haven for those seeking a restful and relaxing stay.
Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Ditcheat, Longhill nestles in the heart of rural Somerset within easy reach of Shepton Mallet, Bath, Wells and the Somerset Levels. Bristol is just a 45 minutes drive away, Longleat about 30 minutes drive and the nearest mainline railway station is only two miles away at Castle Cary.
The extensive lawns, paddocks and picnic table to the front of the house allow guests to enjoy the countryside on their doorstep and also give access to local walking routes where an abundance of wildlife is found, including deer, badgers, kestrels and many other birds.
As well as the countryside, there are a wealth of local attractions and activities that provide more than enough to fill your time during your stay with us, from the many varied year-round events at The Bath & West Showground to several National Trust Properties including the stunning house and gardens of Stourhead, Lytes Cary and Montacute House. Cheddar Caves, Wookey Hole, Longleat, Haynes Motor Museum are all within an easy drive and the cities of Bath & Bristol with thier many historic attractions are very easily accessible. Ditcheat is small but well known, being home to the racing stables of Paul Nicholls (whose success stories include 'Denman' and 'Kauto Star') and local cheese makers, The Barber Family, who make delicious cheeses and export them worldwide.
Self-catering Cottage (Sleeps upto 7 guests plus cot)
Creech View Cottage is our newly built, tradional stone cottage. It is fitted and appointed to a very high standard, with two luxurious 'Heritage' bathrooms, two bedrooms plus sofa-beds and sleeps upto seven guests. Both double bedrooms can be made up with either twin or superking-size beds. The ground floor bedroom and bathroom make easy access for wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility. There is also a large, private, south-facing garden with BBQ (fuel provided).
Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast
Our three en-suite bed and breakfast rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable and all have tea & coffee making facilities, wireless internet access & freeview TV's with DVD player and hair-dryer. All rooms can be made up as superking-size doubles or twin beds and the larger Dairy Room sleeps upto four guests. We are family friendly and can provide high chair, travel cot and cot linen if needed.
We offer a varied hot buffet breakfast menu and source our food and produce locally as far as posible. All hot dishes are prepared at Longhill and we are happy to cater for special dietary needs, just let us know your requirements at booking.
